As the months
and years progressed, MACS experienced solid growth to become
known as the most reliable independent armored car company in
Alabama.
In 1984,
several existing customers came forward and asked the owners of
MACS to consider starting a courier division, primarily to
transport banking documents. After proper licensing,
registration, and filing proper forms, Montgomery Armored Car,
Inc. opened a new division, MACS, Inc. Courier Service (later to
become MACS Courier Service LLC). This division was established
to transport non-negotiable documents, such as bank proof items,
legal documents, pharmaceuticals, and other important delivery
need. Since this time, the demand for courier has grown, so
MACS has become diversified in types of services offered.
In 1990,
MACS opened an office in Birmingham, AL to further facilitate
the growth pattern of the courier division. In 2001 an armored
division was added to the Birmingham location to further expand
the growing market segment of MACS’ armored division.
In 2004,
due to customer demand, MACS started a freight services
division, specializing in time-sensitive and just-in-time
deliveries across the southeast. In combination with the
existing courier service, this new move afforded MACS the
opportunity to provide total transportation solutions for
customers, from small parcels to larger less-than-truckload (LTL)
type of shipments.
